The sunset views over the water from the second floor deck are gorgeous! Trips to the beach are made down a single tree-lined road that brings you to a private beach access with parking. Located near Duck Road, a multi-use pathway leads south to fine dining, casual eateries, shops, and seasonal family-friendly activities at the town's soundfront park.

The ground level boasts a rec room with hardwood floors and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy indoor recreation! This area provides a pool table, sofa seating, mounted TV, pub table with chairs, and a wet bar with sink and refrigerator with icemaker. Bedding options include a king bedroom with a shared bath and flatscreen TV. A second bedroom is equipped with two pyramid bunks. One full bathroom and laundry facilities are centrally located.

Doors open from the rec room to outdoor amenities, where a crystal blue private pool takes center stage. Enjoy refreshing dips or lounge poolside under sunny coastal skies. You won't have a care in the world after unwinding in the bubbling hot tub, the perfect way to relax before retiring each evening.

Ascend to the first floor, where memorable bedding accommodations provide secluded retreats throughout your stay. All offer private bathrooms, flatscreen TVs, and covered deck access. Three bedrooms are furnished with king beds, and the fourth offers a queen bed. Front and rear covered decks are furnished for guest use and enjoyment, the perfect place to sip morning coffee and enjoy evening conversation.

Soaring ceilings, hardwood floors, and ample windows showcasing tranquil water views are highlighted as you enter the top floor great room. Sofas and a cozy armchair are nestled around a seasonal gas fireplace and flatscreen TV, creating a comfortable conversation and TV viewing area. A spacious kitchen allows multiple cooks to share in meal preparations, utilizing generous counter space and storage. Stainless steel appliances include a refrigerator with an icemaker, range/oven, microwave, and two dishwashers. Coffee lovers in the group will find a Keurig and a standard drip coffee maker in the kitchen. Serve meals at a dining table for ten guests, casual kitchen bar seating for five, or at the breakfast nook table seating four. Doors open to a furnished sun deck where you can enjoy spectacular water views (the sunset over the sound is not to be missed!), refreshing breezes, and evening cocktails as the sun sets over peaceful sound waters. A half bath is centrally located. A king bedroom completes the amenities on this level and provides a flatscreen TV, sun deck access, and a private bathroom with dual sink vanity, shower, and a soothing Jacuzzi tub.

Updates for 2024: New roof, new pool liner, outdoor shower rebuilt, new four-top table in the great room, two new dishwashers in kitchen, new dresser in the first floor southeast bedroom, pool table refelted, new outdoor furniture including Adirondack chairs, wicker and metal furniture, and a poolside cafe table with four seats, the driveway was extended for more parking space, an outdoor half bath added by the outdoor shower, a footwash added by the carport, additional space added to the carport for easier access to bikes and beach/pool toys, a stone pathway around the house to the grill area that was tripled in size for more comfortable grilling.

Updates for 2022: New TVs, new picnic table and other outdoor furniture, and misc. decor/furniture updates.

Pool: Pool heated by heat pump. Ambient air temperature of 60 degrees or higher is needed to heat the pool, meaning that if the temperature drops below 60 degrees the pump will not continue to heat. Max. pool temperature is 80 degrees.

Bikes: The owner provides three (3) bikes for guest use. Helmets are not provided. Bring own helmet and ride at your own risk.

Golf: Guests of this home can enjoy discounted green fees at Kilmarlic Golf Club, a Tom Steele designed course in Powell's Point. Enjoy exclusive K Club benefits compliments of the homeowner, including discounted green fees (reserve tee times in advance), and reduced costs for Wild Horse Tours, Kitty Hawk Kites adventures, and more. Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
