Sleeping options on the ground level include a bedroom with a queen bed, flatscreen TV, and a private bath equipped for those with special needs. Surf's up in the second bedroom furnished with two twin bunks. A full bathroom is available to those in this room and the media area. The media room is furnished with sofa and armchair seating, a mounted flatscreen, and offers a wet bar, microwave and refrigerator. Doors open to a covered patio with a bubbling sheltered hot tub. The crystal blue private pool allows for refreshing dips or you can lounge poolside to soak in the glorious sunshine. Uncrowded beaches and rolling surf are steps away on the shared beach access trail, and the dune-top deck is the perfect perch to oversee beach activities and enjoy sea breezes.

All are furnished with king size beds and have flatscreen TVs, and two are oceanfront with direct access to the oceanfront covered deck. This unique design provides two living areas. One is oceanfront with a spacious wraparound sofa and arm chair positioned around a big screen TV. The second sitting area provides a quiet retreat for conversations with comfortable seating and a foosball table, and the cozy loft provides a quiet area for reading. The sun deck is furnished to soak in sun rays while enjoying panoramas of the Atlantic from every vantage point. A half bath is conveniently located on the landing between the first and second floors. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, range/stove, microwave, two dishwashers, a Keurig coffee maker, and two blenders. The kitchen counter offers casual bar seating. Serve meals at an ocean view dining table that seats eight guests and a smaller table for two.

Path to Beach: The beach walkway is shared with the neighboring home. The neighbors added on to their side of the walkway, so now each home has its own dune top deck.

Please Note: The fireplace is electric, available year-round, and is decoration only; it does not put out heat.

Special Access Amenities: This home has an elevator that accesses all three levels. The queen bedroom on the ground level has a bathroom equipped for those with special needs including roll under sink and a shower with a small lip. Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
