Welcome to A Summer Place, an oceanside vacation rental located in the Villages at Ocean Hill in Corolla, NC! You will appreciate the ocean views and breezes from the decks of this wonderfully equipped home! The beach access is just a short walk away.

Spend your days playing or relaxing in your own private pool, and your nights enjoying a game of billiards in the ground level rec room. When you're ready to head to the beach, enjoy a beach umbrella, chairs, and a beach cart provided for your convenience. A kayak is also provided for use at tenants risk.

A Summer Place offers a fireplace for cool evenings in the off-season, and comfortable furnishings for your family gathering. Offering five tastefully decorated bedrooms, including three en suites, there's plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy their own space for rest and relaxation.

The private pool may be heated for a fee of $550 per week. Linens are provided.

The Villages at Ocean Hill offers opportunities for family fun, sport, recreation and sheer relaxation. Within the community of the Villages at Ocean Hill, there are two swimming pools for your enjoyment: one on Sandcastle Drive at the oceanfront and one on Lakeside Drive next to the fitness center. In addition to two community pools, the Villages at Ocean Hill amenities also include basketball courts, a playground, and a nature trail. For an additional fee, guests can enjoy access to the fitness center and tennis/pickleball courts.

Community pool dates are May to mid-September, weather permitting. Community pool dates are subject to change.

Layout:
Lower Level: Game room with pool table and a king en suite with private bath.
Mid Level: King en suite with private bath, a bedroom with two queen beds, a bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, full bath, laundry area. Hot tub on covered deck overlooking the pool.
Top Level: Living area, fireplace and ocean views, kitchen, dining areas, king en suite with private bath and TV, half bath.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
