ANNA is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your vacation. If you don’t want or need a McMansion for your group, ANNA could be just what you are looking for. She is the perfect size for couples and family gatherings up to 10 people. The property is well maintained and the many repeat renters (some have been coming back for over 10 years) is a testament to the location, quality, and value you will enjoy. 

The property has fantastic 180 degree ocean views from the top level. Stroll to the beach on your own private walkway to the beach. See spectacular sunrises, frequent dolphin sightings, pelican caravans and occasionally a whale. 

For rainy days, there are many TVs with streaming capability and smart TVs with ROKU sticks for your favorite show or movie. There are also games and many jigsaw puzzles to keep your family members occupied. Or, just pick out a book from the mid-level library and enjoy a good read. Gourmet cooks will enjoy the well equipped kitchen. The top level large living area has great cathedral ceilings. There are nice seating areas on the decks surrounding the house. The sun room (just off the kitchen with a door between) offers a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of activities. It’s a great place to relax, watch TV or read a book.  The sun room can also be used as an office area complete with a computer desk and mini-kitchen with its own Keurig coffee maker and microwave.

Ground Level: Basketball Goal, Outside Shower, fish cleaning table and a 100 foot hose. 

Mid-Level: The master bedroom w/King with ocean views has direct access to the lower deck and hot tub. This bedroom has a Smart Samsung TV & ROKU stick. A second oceanfront bedroom has a queen bed. This bedroom has direct access to the lower deck and hot tub and a smart Samsung TV for streaming. The third bedroom has a queen bed, direct lower deck access and a TV with ROKU stick for streaming. The fourth bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds and a ROKU TV. There are two full baths on this level—one off the master bedroom and a smaller full bath just outside the oceanfront queen bedroom. Both bathrooms can be accessed from the common hallway connecting all four bedrooms. The hallway also has a full size washer and dryer and a hutch with a variety of books and games.

Upper Level: Great Room w/smart Samsung TV for streaming and a Blu-Ray Player, Hall Half Bath, Kitchen, Sun Room, and Dining Room with seating for 10.

Independently owned by a member of one of the Outer Banks’ oldest families, the Ben Franklin store is stocked with just about everything a visitor would need to go to the beach.

 

Ben Franklin stores were once part of a five-and-dime retail empire, with about 2,500 locations across the country in its heyday. As decades passed and the times and customers began to change, many closed their doors, leading to fewer than 150 of these nostalgic shops. Nags Head Ben Franklin, however, has withstood the test of time and adapted to the needs of its customers to provide a memorable shopping experience on the Outer Banks.

 

Debbie Terry Tolson, manager of the Ben Franklin location in Nags Head, recalls working with former owner Tommie Daniels. Daniels’ father, Moncie Daniels, started the business in downtown Manteo in the early 1900s. The Daniels family has been a longstanding fixture in the Outer Banks business community—Moncie even sold gas to the Wright brothers in 1903.

 

Tommie, with an excellent business mind, saw the opportunity the new Bypass presented and, in 1977, he opened the Nags Head location of Ben Franklin. He was one of the first businesses on the Bypass,” Tolson says.In addition to a new location, the Ben Franklin store saw a new group of customers.

 

“People would come from all around because Tommie had a little bit of everything—it was more like a five and 10 then,” Tolson explains. “As he went to the beach, he began to get more tourists, so he started catering more and more to visitors.”

 

Today, the 21,000-square-foot souvenir shop quickly catches the attention of anyone driving by thanks to the ocean-themed mural that decorates the façade of the building, painted by local artist Rob Snyder. This Ben Franklin location has become the must-stop shop for both first-time visitors to the area and generations of families who escape to the Outer Banks annually.

 

Tolson credits the great prices and friendly customer service to the success of the location, which keeps families returning.“People come in all the time and tell me, ‘my grandmother or my grandfather used to bring me here and now I’m bringing my children,’” she shares. “One of my favorite parts about working here is seeing the people come back year after year.”
