SEMI-OCEANFRONT Hatteras - Lighthouse Ct. Vacation in a home constructed for royalty. Presenting QUEEN ANNE’S REVENGE – a seafaring-themed estate with attention to detail and décor like none other. The home was constructed in the shape of a ship’s bow with two levels of bow-angled decks and even a perch at the apex where you can feel like the king of the world(!) Your vacation voyage begins as soon as you enter the property. Set sail in the ship-shape swimming pool, and sing a few sea shanties at the poolside Tiki bar with mini-refrigerator. Step up to the deck and slip into the 7-person hot tub with steps for simple access and privacy of duck ponds and woods behind.

Take the event inside to the game room with pool table, stand-up arcade game, and wet bar with ice machine and refrigerator for painless access to poolside drinks and snacks. A half bath is close by along with two bedrooms that share access to a full bath with tub – one bedroom with a king bed and the other with pyramid bunk and single bed. Choose from four master bedrooms on the mid-level, three with king beds and one with a pyramid bunk and single bed. The bunk master bath has a tub, ideal for bathing the kids after a day of sunscreen and sand. Two of the king master baths have dual vanities and walk-in showers. The third king master bath is handicap-friendly with roll-in shower and seat. Cruise up to the top-level for one more king master suite, with view of the Pamlico Sound and in the master bath, find both walk-in shower and tub. Each of the 7 bedrooms has access to a deck and its own TV.

The great room impresses with cathedral ceilings, exposed beams and windows that reach to the sky. The focal point of the nautical-themed room is the captain’s wheel wet bar – facing the ocean – enabling you to captain the ship as you prepare drinks for your thirsty crew. Leather couches surround the Intelligent 70” TV with Bluray player. Multiple seating options are available for dining, including three tables in the dining area - the dining table for 8, a dinette table for 4, a table for 2 - and kitchen seating to include a breakfast table for 4 and 3 stools at the breakfast bar. The kitchen is roomy and extravagant with granite countertops and bespoke cabinetry. The sink at the breakfast bar accompanies a prep sink on the center island. A slider leads to the screened porch for dining with the sounds of the sea and the Hatteras breeze.

After a day in the surf or the sound, there is no need to plunder a spot on the deck. Unwind in one of the dolphin-watch chairs while watching the blue water turn purple as the sun sets behind you. Or climb to the outside shipswatch to get a birdseye view of the Hatteras skyline. Whether you are seeking a regal vacation or a pirate adventure, a stay in this flagship home is one that you must experience.

New for 2024: New 7-person hot tub. New stand-up arcade game in the game room. Parlor outside on the newly refreshed decks!

Carnival Treats at the Beach—With Flavorful Creations and Allergy-Friendly Options, Donutz on a Stick Serves Up Sweet Treats for Everyone

David and Stephanie were not always in the business of carnival confections. In fact, Stephanie was a fitness instructor and David worked in the computer field. But he loved donuts and she loved ice cream, and when they saw an opportunity to bring their favorite treats to beachgoers, they jumped on it.

In 2014, the couple opened their first Donutz on a Stick—a family-run, family-friendly dessert shop on the boardwalk. They quickly realized that in order to serve everyone, they would need to get creative. “We had a family who would come in, and one of the little boys would have to wait by the door because of his gluten allergy,” David says. “That didn’t sit well with us. We wanted everyone to come under the same roof no matter what kind of allergies they had. And we continue to work towards that goal.”

The Williams’ daughter Desireé spent six weeks experimenting until she created a gluten-free donut that was totally safe and delicious. Gluten-free donuts are now a huge part of the business, with more than 1,000 being served each day, just out of the Duck location. But you will want to call or stop by to reserve them in advance.

The Williams’ other three children, David, Justin and Christian, have all invented menu items as well, such as Christian’s donut milkshake, which features hot and fresh cooked donuts blended into a milkshake with another donut on top making it picture perfect.

While all the Williams have created menu items, the most popular pick—the donut sundae—was actually a happy accident.

“We were being featured in a local magazine and we could only have one photo for the article,” David says. Since both ice cream and donuts were equally popular, “we built the donut sundae for the photo and we discovered after the photoshoot that it tasted amazing. It was completely serendipitous.”

The Williams family is constantly creating and improving upon their recipes. At the heart of it all is a desire to see everyone come in and enjoy an experience together. They want to bring the carnival to your mouth.

“No matter how busy we are—even if there’s a line down the boardwalk—every customer gets that engagement and service from us,” they say.

The family has since opened a second location in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area.
