Welcome to Flounders Cove at Ocean Sands by KEES Vacations!


Flounders Cove is a lovely beach cottage that has plenty of amenities to give you a great Outer Banks Vacation. Located in the popular neighborhood of Oceans Sands (Section F), this property is within .04 miles to the beach access and only a few yards from the 7-Acre Ocean Sands fishing lake. In addition, staying in this vacation rental allows you to enjoy all of the community amenities including the aforementioned fishing lake, tennis courts, covered picnic areas, a gazebo, and access to the Corolla Bike Path.

Outside you'll enjoy the luxury of a private pool, hot tub, and a gas grill. Anyone up for some hoops? Enjoy the outside basketball goal as well. When you enter this home, you will notice the bright interior and beach themed furnishings. On the first level, challenge your friends or family to a game of foosball in the recreation room which also includes a flat screen tv. You will also find a King Bedroom and Full Bathroom on this level.

Head up the stairs to the second level to more sleeping accommodations. Guests can choose between the King En Suite with its own bathroom and covered deck access, a Queen bedroom, and a bedroom with one Double-over-Double Bunk Set and Twin Trundle. There is a Jack and Jill Bathroom for those two rooms to use.

On the third level is where you will find yourself hanging out the most (other than the pool area!). Up here is the kitchen with bar stool seating, a dining area for the group to enjoy an amazing meal together, a comfy living space with a flat screen tv. There is a another living space that includes a day bed with trundle for an additional place to sleep. Grab your cup of coffee in the morning and venture out to the expansive deck. Maybe you'll catch a beautiful Outer Banks sunrise. There is a half bathroom on this level as well for convenience.

This home is located a short drive to restaurants, attractions such as the Currituck Lighthouse and the Whalehead Club in historic Corolla, and is close to great shopping!

**Private unheated pools will open on April 16th and close on October 1st. Hot Tubs are available year-round. Pools and hot tubs are cleaned weekly and no later than 6pm on check-in day. Vendors are subject to enter backyard to clean the pool and/or spa on scheduled cleaning days. No pets allowed in pools.**

This property has 5 parking spots for guests.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
