How to book the best rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Corolla. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Outer Banks visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Marguerite DeVille, Custom-designed Oceanside Home, All Seasons Getaway has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
