This event which is now in its 30th year in 2026 attracts visitors and locals alike who want to run, walk or “trot” before diving into their afternoon Thanksgiving feast.
Kick off your Thanksgiving celebration with a little exercise, fresh coastal air, and plenty of holiday spirit at the annual Duck Turkey Trot 5K. This popular Thanksgiving Day tradition brings together runners, walkers, families, and visitors for a festive 3.1-mile race through the charming town of Duck on the Outer Banks. Open to participants of all abilities, the event offers a fun and active way to start the holiday while enjoying the area's welcoming community atmosphere.
