Now in its new Cape Hatteras location, Wind-NC is a full-service windsurfing, standup paddle boarding and skateboarding specialty shop. The owners describe their shop as a “real deal store,“ where you can visit and touch, talk about and try almost all of the lastest in watersports gear. And they have a huge selection of skateboards. The shop also sells men’s and women’s clothing, including lots of T-shirts and backpacks, as well as accessories like waterproof cameras and car rack pads and straps. Most of the shop’s items can be ordered online and are shipped out daily, with free shipping offered on some orders.
Along with sales and rentals, Wind-NC offers daily, affordable lessons in both paddle boarding and windsurfing and invites you to come and meet their friendly and knowledgeable staff. With their location in what the owners call one of the “waviest” and “windiest” locations on the planet, they are able to spend plenty of time year round testing new equipment and enhancing their teaching skills, enabling them to provide quality lessons and educated recommendations.
You’ll find the shop near it’s old location, in the heart of Avon, right across the street from the Avon Pier, sharing a new building with Hatteras Island Boardsports. They’re open daily spring through fall with hours that vary off-season and are often extended in the summer. Lessons require reservations.
