There’s something special about a classic Outer Banks beach cottage—and this charming 3-bedroom, 1-bath retreat in Avalon Beach has held onto all the character that makes these homes so loved.
Built in the 1950s and thoughtfully updated with some modern touches, this oceanside cottage blends vintage OBX charm with the comforts you want for an easygoing beach vacation. Original tongue-and-groove wood walls and ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors give the home a warm, nostalgic feel, while the open den and kitchen create a comfortable space for everyone to gather.
The enclosed front porch adds even more room to relax and is the perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon book, or a cold drink after a day on the beach.
And when we say close to the beach, we mean it. The ocean is just two blocks away, so you can leave the car at home, grab your beach bag, and be on the sand in minutes. You’ll also be just two blocks from Avalon Pier, a longtime Kill Devil Hills landmark at Milepost 6 known for fishing, ocean views, its arcade, casual food and drinks, and that unmistakable old-school Outer Banks atmosphere.
Avalon Beach itself is one of Kill Devil Hills’ oldest communities, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to Kitty Hawk Bay. It’s a wonderfully central part of the Outer Banks—laid-back and residential while still putting vacation essentials close at hand. Grocery stores, Target, a movie theater, shops, restaurants and more are all nearby, making it easy to spend less time in the car and more time enjoying your vacation.
Simple, comfortable and full of coastal character, this isn’t a cookie-cutter beach house—and that’s exactly the point. It’s a little piece of classic Kill Devil Hills, just a short stroll from the ocean and one of the Outer Banks’ most iconic piers.
One Level: Great Room w/Smart TV, Kitchen, 2 Queen Bedrooms w/Smart TV, Bedroom w/2 Twins & Smart TV, Full Hall Bath w/Tub/Shower Combo, Screened Porch, Laundry Room in Shed.
Please note this home has a video camera installed facing the driveway.
