Inside, the nautical-themed decor will relax and refresh you. This condo boasts two main suites, one king and one queen which will truly delight. For that extra guest, there's a sleeper sofa in the main living area. No carpet here, only luxury vinyl plank flooring for those of you with allergies. Enjoy a good book in the reading nook near the back deck. You'll find WiFi and cable TV in both bedrooms and in the common area.

You'll love relaxing in the home's central air conditioning, and there's a bonus ceiling fan in each bedroom. The well-equipped kitchen is a wonderful addition for the chef in you. Spacious tables in the dining area and on the deck allow for dining in or grabbing takeout from the numerous tasty, local restaurants. There's a 25-foot boat slip for seafaring guests to enjoy, with channel access to the Pamlico Sound and the Atlantic Ocean via the Hatteras Inlet. Launch your kayak or paddleboard right from the back dock! There are charcoal grills located near the docks and a fish-cleaning station for your daily catch. What could be better? The private washer/dryer will clean the swimsuits as you relax with a DVD. You'll also enjoy easy access to the beach and a shared pool during your stay!

You can easily access the beach from this central location, only four-tenths of a mile away on Flambeau Road (yes, that’s where the Flambeau shipwreck is!), with the Hatteras Island Ocean Center a quarter-mile away if you need ideas on what to see first. Hatteras Village is half a mile from the condo, allowing you access to some of the best shopping, dining, and marinas on the strand! Be sure to visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum for some history during your stay. The local Red and White grocery store is a walkable distance, with the library and post office close by. World-class kiteboarding is available in the Pamlico Sound for the adventurer in you. Looking for a fishing charter or some wave runners to rent? Both are available right up the road at Oden’s Dock. The ferry to Ocracoke Island is only one and one-third miles away! Or, rent a golf cart from one of the local businesses for easy and fun travel around Hatteras Village.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
