Stop by the Dare County Arts Council on a leisurely stroll through downtown Manteo to admire a month-long exhibit that shines a spotlight on the art of fish printmaking.

This traditional method of Japanese fish printing that dates back to the mid-1800s has been captured with beautiful accuracy and attention to detail by artist Pete Erickson, who lives on the Outer Banks in the town of Kitty Hawk. Born and raised on the Albemarle Sound, Pete has a lifelong love of all things related to the water, and his passion for surfing and fishing has led to his intricate collection of works where the fish steals the scene. The ensuing designs are both precise and alluring, and represent a wide array of species of fish that are found and caught locally on the Outer Banks and beyond. Displayed at the Dare County Arts Center along Elizabeth Street in Manteo, everyday visitors can admire the works with an easy detour away from the downtown waterfront.

Open and free to the public, this month-long exhibition that runs until June 30th presents a fine opportunity to explore a unique and talented voice of the thriving and vibrant arts scene on the Outer Banks.
