Enjoy an opportunity to take a breather from the Ocracoke sun while listening to a series of fascinating stories about this historic village’s roots with this special “Porch Talk” that’s held at the charming  Ocracoke Preservation Museum. The Ocracoke Museum is found within the 1850s David Williams House, which is located in the heart of town along Silver Lake Drive, and which is a popular spot for soaking up a little history while exploring the town.

During this hour-long porch talk, local legend Fiddler Dave and some of his friends will spin a world of tales about the pirates that once haunted the shores of Ocracoke Island, leaving their mark for centuries to come. Through a mixture of stories, songs, and sea-worthy yarns, visitors will enjoy both a hefty dose of fascinating history, as well as a longtime Ocracoke tradition – the art of storytelling on a shaded front porch. This event is open to guests of all ages, (and will be an especially big hit with the kids), and is free for all visitors who want to pop by the museum porch. A cool way to enjoy a break from the afternoon sun, this porch talk is sure to be a highlight of an Ocracoke Island exploration.
