Take a respite from the amazing shops, restaurants, and attractions of Ocracoke Island and enjoy an opportunity to discover the wild side of this southern Outer Banks destination with this special program that’s hosted by the National Park Service. The Outer Banks Bird Walk will introduce visitors to the hundreds of species that visit these shores on a regular basis, and will be an enlightening event that will engage nature fans of all ages.
The Outer Banks Bird Walk is completely free, and the regular weekly event launches from the ferry parking lot on the very northern edge of Ocracoke Island. From here, visitors will explore the wide waters of the Pamlico Sound and beyond as they explore the area landscape on the hunt for a myriad of different species. The Outer Banks is home to countless birds that make annual treks to the shoreline during the fall and spring migration seasons, or which thrive in the salty environment that’s known for its abundant wildlife. On this adventure, visitors will learn all about local species of note while enjoying a picturesque setting in the heart of Ocracoke. Open to all ages, this event is a photo-worthy program that is sure to be a highlight of any Ocracoke Island vacation.
