The First Annual Mustang Rock & Roast will be the ultimate music and food festival experience, infusing North Carolina barbecue, oysters and 14 bands playing live music October 13-14 at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in Corolla.
Saturday will be headlined by rock, pop, funk band BIG Something, with Dangermuffin, Jahman Brahman, Groove Fetish, Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos, Songs From The Road Band and student bands from the Mustang Outreach Program playing a myriad of jazz, reggae, Americana, and bluegrass throughout the day starting at 12pm. From 2-5pm on Saturday, Rock and Roast guests will indulge in an authentic all you can eat North Carolina oyster roast. Saturday evening will round out with a late night super jam featuring the Songs From The Road Band and members of Dangermuffin starting at 10:30pm at Sundogs Raw Bar & Grill.
Sunday will be headlined by Pink Talking Fish, who will deliver a special experience for music lovers by combining Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish into a hybrid tribute. The gates will open at 1pm with The Mike Dillon Band, Formula 5, The Get Right Band, The Vegabonds and Paleface playing punk, rock n’ roll, blues and funk throughout the day. From 2-5pm various local restaurants and chefs will be participating in a pork barbeque cook off, where festivalgoers will be able to sample barbecue sandwiches along with traditional pairings. Rock and Roast will conclude with the official after party starting at 10:30pm at Sundogs with more live music by Funk You with special guests The Ramble.
A portion of the event proceeds will go to the Mustang Outreach Program and the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. The Mustang Outreach Program supplements the cultural arts programs in local schools with world-class music performances, residencies and mentoring programs. The Corolla Wild Horse Fund protects, conserves, and responsibly manages the herd of wild Colonial Spanish Mustangs roaming freely on the northernmost Currituck Outer Banks.
