Make an unforgettable memory for the youngest visitors in your vacationing party with this unique opportunity to meet an actual “representative” of the famed wild horses of the Currituck Banks. This weekly summer event, which is hosted by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund, allows kids and adults alike to get “up close and personal” with a wild mustang, while learning all about a wonderful and worthy local cause.

The Corolla Wild Horses have been around for generations, and are thought to be the descendants of Spanish mustangs that were shipwrecked along the norther Outer Banks in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, the horses need to be protected and preserved due to the swelling vacation population, and these efforts are spearheaded on a local basis by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. During this special event, folks can meet a gentle horse that was rescued from the wild, and can learn all about this history of these rare area residents, as well as what efforts are being made to make sure this population survives and thrives. The event is completely free, although all donations are accepted, and will go towards the Corolla Wild Horse Fund’s ongoing efforts to ensure these wild horses stick around for generations to come.
