Whether you are an expert at casting in the shallow waters of the Currituck Sound, or want to learn a little introductory info to get your fishing expeditions started, you’re sure to enjoy this free class that’s held at the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education in the town of Corolla. The Fly Tying Workshop will show all anglers ages 14 and up the art of creating different types of flies, and will share a suite of information as well as a unique skill set that will make fishing expeditions even more enjoyable for years to come.

During this roughly one hour session, attendees will learn all about the different types of flies, as well as how they are made to best benefit anglers casting in shallow, and hopefully trout-filled waters. After an extensive introduction to various flies, students will get to work on learning how to tie one themselves, through guided tutorials from an experienced instructor. The class is absolutely free for all attendees, but advanced registration is required. Students can sign up online, or can call for reservations at 252.453.0221. Fun for experienced and novice anglers alike, this class is a great way to discover something new in the fishing-obsessed Outer Banks.
