Burnside Books

Burnside Books is a wonderful year-round stop if you like old and new books as well as that old-fashioned feeling that comes with browsing through the stacks.  They have great deals here. Some books are marked 10 and 25 cents! All used paperbacks are 75% off the list price. All used hardbacks are buy two and get one free.  Used books include fiction and non-fiction including Harlequin romance novels, science fiction, reference, cookbooks and lots more. You pick up some quirky finds including Yule Brynner’s Cookbook

New books include lots of great gardening books and sections on local and North Carolina history, the Civil War – we did have a significant battle on the island 150 years ago – crafts, sports, birding and general non-fiction and fiction sections.  They even have several versions of Eclipse from the Twilight Series in Spanish.  While not all the books are hot off the press, this is a great place to fill in your collection. They also sell puzzles and books by local children’s book author, Suzanne Tate. She has an entire rack of her Nature Series for kids.  Browse two floors and enjoy the treasure hunt! The store is attached to Times Printing’s office supply store, where you will go bananas over paper, pens, and office materials.  See our write up!
