Visit the winter lights at 1411 National Park Dr, Manteo, NC 27954
The Elizabethan Gardens’ Winter Lights celebration is easily one of the biggest and most highly anticipated events of the holiday season. Featuring hundreds of thousands of lights that are dotted throughout the gardens, the ensuing sight is really something to behold, and will get any visitor into a holiday spirit.
The event takes place throughout the month of December and beyond, and is a special “after hours” show that can only be enjoyed after the gardens traditionally closes, and the sun goes down. Once at the site on Roanoke Island, visitors will enjoy hot cocoa and holiday music in the background as they linger through acres and acres of gardens that have been decked out with a seemingly endless number of lights. Festive trees and holiday décor are found throughout the gardens as well, and there’s also a fire to warm your toes on the expansive great lawn. Seasonal plant and gift sales also coincide with the event, allowing visitors to do a little holiday shopping during their winter wonderland excursion. A true delight for kids and adults alike, the annual Winter Lights celebration at the Elizabethan Gardens is steadily becoming a favorite and beloved holiday tradition for locals and visitors alike on the Outer Banks. (Closed on Dec 24, 25, 31 and Jan 1)
