Just because the weather has turned chilly doesn’t mean that a local landscape can’t shine, even in the middle of the winter. During this special workshop, gardeners will learn how to make the most out of the cooler weather by planting festive containers gardens that will sparkle throughout the holiday season.
This two-hour class is held on the grounds of the Elizabethan Gardens, which has long been considered one of the best spots on the Outer Banks to learn about the local flora and fauna that thrives throughout the year – even in the wintertime months. During the session, students will join in a discussion of what plants work best for both seasonal colors and the colder temps, and will also learn all about the pastel hues of winter annuals that will brighten any front porch or yard. With hands-on instruction and a local gardening expert leading the way, the class serves as an exceptional way to pick up a little knowledge on how to create a stunning winter wonderland landscape on a smaller scale. The class is open to just 12 participants, and the cost is $40 for non-members and $25 for members, with students encouraged to sign up online as soon as possible.
