One of the most famous traveling exhibits in the country is paying a visit to the Outer Banks in this special event that honors the veterans of the Vietnam War. On Veterans Day in November of 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., which was designed to travel to communities throughout the country.

Since first being introduced, The Wall That Heals has been to approximately 700 locales around the United States, and in November, it is making a special appearance in the heart of Nags Head. The wall is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point, and is meant to replicate the experience of seeing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Featuring the more than 58,000 names of the brave men and women who perished during the Vietnam War, The Wall that Heals is both a moving and inspiring tribute to this darker chapter of American history. Everyone is welcome to pay The Wall That Heals a visit during its brief but multiple-day trip to the Outer Banks, to honor the fallen and the brave heroes of the Vietnam War who are never forgotten.
