Blue Whale is a small town convenience store with nearly 40 years under its belt. They offer everything necessary for coastal living and vacationing including groceries, beer, wine, beach supplies, magazines, ice, gasoline and a propane exchange service. Pick up a beach read here including books and magazines. You have got to get the souvenir T-shirt from your stay in Salvo. They have lots of cool choices including hot sauces! Pick up steak, chops, chicken and beef patties for a beach barbeque with all the fixings including delicious marinades. They have fresh produce, as well. If you are into fishing, you can purchase bait and tackle at the Blue Whale, too. Look for the Blue Whale on the sign. If you sneeze in Salvo, you will miss it, but you can’t afford to! While in the area, check out the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station in Rodanthe. It has fascinating history worth the side trip.
