Food lovers should make a date with the Outer Banks in March, as every year for one fantastic weekend, the restaurants on the Outer Banks get together to entice and please foodies with the annual Taste of the Beach event.

This nearly week-long affair is typically held in the middle of March, and features extensive restaurant or brewery tours and tastings, sampling menus, and fantastic dining events at the best restaurants on the beach. The popularity of the Taste of the Beach in recent years has caused the event to expand from a two-day weekend into a Thursday - Sunday event, allowing patrons more opportunities to sample all of restaurants, (and fantastic tasting menus), that are featured during the event.

Attendees can purchase tickets from the Outer Banks Restaurant Association, and then the sky is the limit as dozens of restaurants open their doors to Taste of the Beach patrons. Special events include extensive tasting menus, cheese selections, tequila and wine tastings, and a chowder contest that features entries from at least two dozen of the best restaurants on the beach. After sampling the menus, participants can vote on their favorites, and prizes are given out in a number of categories ranging from Best in Show to People's Choice and Chef's Awards.

Anyone who looks at an OBX menu and wishes they could order absolutely everything, or who loves an excuse to simply taste their way through an Outer Banks vacation, should definitely make plans to attend the annual Taste at the Beach event. With dozens of restaurants competing to please patrons with their very best dishes, it's a safe bet that all attendees will leave happy, full, and completely satisfied.
