Surfside Plaza is a small shopping center located near Jockeys Ridge. It’s one of the Outer Banks’ first centers, and the only one located on the Beach Road (Virginia Dare Trail) in Nags Head.
The Plaza features a variety of shops offering services and products from hair styling (Hair Artistry) and henna tattoos (Beach Braids) to used computers and computer repairs (Outer Banks Computers and Music).
One of the area’s longest-standing shops, Surfside Casuals is a main staple of the center and has a huge selection of swimwear and top brand names in beach apparel for men, women and children. For more clothing choices, Surfside’s Discount T-Shirt Outlet has thousands of T-shirts at very affordable prices.
Cap’t John’s Nautical Consignment shop offers artists a venue for selling marine-related paintings and prints and shoppers great prices on original art and its collection of nautical items, old and new. The Nags Head Harley Davidson shop carries brand name T-shirts, hats and gift items.
Outer Banks Computers and Music also sells new and vintage musical instruments and offers lessons in mandolin, guitar, bass and violin. They also rent sound systems and help with music for weddings.
One of the latest additions to the Plaza is Blue Moon Beach Grill, offering a “quirky, fun-filled dining experience” with southern comfort food prepared with a “creative twist.” It offers dining indoors and out on a new patio deck. Another eatery, one that’s been with Surfside for years, is the Country Deli, which serves “overstuffed” subs and offers free delivery as far north as Kill Devil Hills.
