Visitors and residents who have always wanted a better ability to reel in the big one will want to attend this class that explores the basics of surf fishing, and much more. Hosted by a recreational angler with decades of experience, the Surf Fishing 101 and Knot Tying for Beginners is a perfect time to master the essentials before the spring fishing season starts to heat up on the Outer Banks.
The class is taught by Stu Baldwin, who has been a recreational angler for virtually all of his life, and who has 40 years of surf fishing and competitive surf fishing experience to bring to the table. The class serves as a great opportunity to uncover all of the basics and little tips to success for surf fishing, such as reel selection, basic knot tying, natural versus artificial bait, and even how to reach the best beaches for casting a line. The class has a small size limit – just 18 students at the most – so attendees can expect lots of information and opportunities to ask questions to garner more knowledge into the topics at hand. Open to the public, this class is a great way to get your lines wet in the famed Outer Banks surf fishing scene.
