The annual Ocracoke Volunteer Firemen's Ball has become a tradition for longtime visitors and locals alike, and newcomers are welcome to join in the fun of this special event that celebrates the island’s inherent sense of community.
The Ocracoke Volunteer Firemen's Ball kicks off with a silent auction that’s followed by a fast-paced live auction in the evening with experienced auctioneer Phillip Howard as the caller. In addition, attendees can enjoy a full evening of food, courtesy of the always popular pig pickin’ that’s stuffed with BBQ, ribs, and plenty of homemade side dishes. The grand finale of the event is the evening dance and music showcase that features a number of live bands providing exceptional music that’s perfect for kicking off the flip flops and dancing the night away. Local and regional musicians will keep folks on the dance floor long after the sun goes down. With all proceeds going to benefit the Ocracoke Fire Protection Association, and lots of ways to stay entertained from heaping plates of southern BBQ to great live music with local flair, the Ocracoke Volunteer Firemen's Ball earns its reputation as one of the most beloved events of the year.
