• Wednesday, October 9th - Friday, October 11th

October is renowned as prime time for fishing on the Outer Banks, and Nags Head anglers don’t have to venture too far to enjoy a surf fishing tournament that is wonderfully close to home. The Nags Head Surf Fishing Tournament is open to skilled and amateur anglers alike, and takes place all along the sunny Nags Head beaches, with plenty of room to cast a line in the hopes of reeling in some big catches, and some big prizes.

The Nags Head Surf Fishing Tournament is hosted by the Nags Head Fishing Club, which has been promoting fishing in the central Outer Banks since 1952. The Nags Head Fishing Club regularly accepts new members, and during the two-day tournament, anglers will be treated to lunch in between fishing sessions, as well as social events in the evening with food buffets and beers to go around. Information on the cost to enter and varying rules can be found online or by contacting the Nags Head Fishing Tournament directly, and the October timeframe means that there are plenty of opportunities to reel in a hefty variety of saltwater fish that crowd to the local shorelines when the fall fishing season heats up.
