Fishermen and watersports fans alike will appreciate this opportunity to learn the basics of one of the Outer Banks’ fastest growing sports – kayak fishing – via a free session that covers all the essentials and beyond. Hosted by the Kitty Hawk Kites Store on the edge of the Nags Head / Manteo Causeway, these summertime Monthly Kayak Clinics will inspire anyone to paddle out and join in the fishing fun.
The Monthly Kayak Clinics are held just yards away from one of the premier destinations for kayak fishing in the central Outer Banks, the sound waters that border the Nags Head / Manteo town borders and Causeway. Launching from the Kitty Hawk Kites shop at Whalebone Watersports, this immersive clinic is ideal for beginning kayakers and anglers, as well as seasoned kayak fishermen who want to learn more. During the free clinic, students will learn all about fishing techniques, tackle, gear, and a little insider insight on where to go to reel in the best catches. (Best of all, each monthly clinic is free for attendees!) With the Monthly Kayak Clinics, anglers can master their skills, or embark on a new adventure, and discover why kayak fishing is becoming a hit with watersports and fishing fans alike on the Outer Banks.
Jockey's Ridge State Park is an unmistakable landmark for Nags Head vacationers and virtually everyone passing through along the main beach bypass, US 158. This park is marked by its towering sand dunes, which reach 80' - 100' feet tall and look more at home in a vast dessert than in a coastal beach town. These dues are barren, and made up of nothing but Outer Banks sand, providing an incredible playground for hang gliders, sand boarders, and anyone who doesn't mind a long hike and some incredible island-spanning views.
