A fun clothing shop geared to teenage girls and young women, the Lil’Grass Shack has a long history on the Outer Banks. It began as the Bikini Hut in 1987. The location moved a couple of times before it landed about 10 years later at the Outer Banks Mall. That’s when the store was given its new name. About four years ago, the shop relocated to its current home at the Shoppes at 10.5, off the Bypass at Milepost 10.5 in Nags Head.
The Lil’ Grass Shack, painted pink and green and billed as “a unique beach boutique,” features bright colored dresses, purses and jewelry. Even the dressing room, with its palm-like thatched roof and fake grass curtain, has the fun island vibe.
