La Cabana hit the Outer Banks restaurant scene with a bang in 2011. It has been packed ever since. Word has it they do not use frozen food at all. A home-style Latin restaurant, the Manteo eatery has plenty of choices no matter your preference, hankering or special diet. They have specials and lunch menus as well as dinner fare.
Appetizers include fried turnovers stuffed with chicken or ground beef, delectable shrimp ceviche, jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and chorizo and more. Enjoy a selection of salads, soups and delicious sides such as guacamole, fried plantains, yellow rice and more. The salsa es muy delicioso!
Entrees include fresh, simple chicken, steak or shrimp tacos – definitely NOT frozen shrimp – chicken quesadillas, tamales, chimmi changas, fajitas and many more selections. For bebidas (beverages) choose a refreshing jarito, Jamaican punch, coffee, tea or soda. They serve Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Desserts include a variety of cakes including milk, chocolate bar, and Mandarin orange. La Cabana also offers a kid’s menu – a combination of American and Latin food. While they don’t offer liquor by the drink at this time, enjoy a glass of wine or cold beer with your meal. The atmosphere is casual with a colorful ethnic mural on the back wall. Open daily year round.
