Ketch 55, the former Mack Daddy's Grill and Raw Bar is a seafood-inspired dining experience that takes culinary art seriously. They focus on fine, fresh ingredients to prepare everything from a simple plate to a more complex offering. A first course can include everything from antipasto and Hereford beef skewers to sauteed crab salad and tuna bacon poke, PEI mussels, risotto Caprese and a shrimp hot pot. Enjoy salad selections: house, spinach and goat cheese, and caesar. Select your favorite seafood from the steam/raw bar including cold water oysters and local shrimp. Main courses include a mix of seafood and meat such as grilled pork chops and free-range glazed chicken or Thai glazed tuna, fresh catch of the day or shrimp and grits. Savor jumbo lump crabcakes, seafood curry, Alaskan snow crab legs or combination plates. They even offer an Outer Banks favorite - fish tacos. The menu includes kids selections, and extensive beer and wine list with plenty of draft beers from which to choose. They can offer advice on pairing these beverages with your food selection, and the folks at Ketch 55 always consider special dietary concerns. If you are looking for fresh food prepared and presented by a caring staff, Ketch 55 is a good choice for evening dining in Avon. Add live music into the mix, and you have a full-body experience by the sea. They don't accept reservations, atmosphere is casual, and the eatery is handicapped-accessible.
