Island Farm is a living history farm located on Roanoke Island. The c.1847 site encourages visitors to explore island life from 150 years ago. Interpreters bring history to life dressed in period attire. Watch demonstrations and/or help them perform daily activities including blacksmithing, playing children’s games, cooking corn cakes and ham, washing clothing, performing woodworking, farming, gardening, harvesting and more. The hands-on activities change depending on the season and are weather dependant. Special programming is offered year round. The grounds are beautiful and restful. Island Farm even offers ox-drawn wagon rides. There are self-guided tours of the farm and house.
The farm is located on the main Manteo highway not far from a variety of restaurants as well as other state historic sites including Roanoke Island Festival Park, Fort Raleigh, NC Aquarium and the Elizabethan Gardens.
