The Hungry Pelican is run by the same folks who have the Hungry Pelican Grill in Manteo. This is a year round sandwich shop with a small deli where you can order meats, baked goods and salads by the pound. They have daily specials posted on their blackboard that are served in their waterfront restaurant that has a bright and cheery atmosphere.
All food is made to order and includes fresh tossed, chef, BLT and Hawaiian salads. They serve all-beef hot dogs, and deli sandwiches such as ham and cheese, chicken salad with almonds, and Italian hogie, chipotle chicken, and club sandwiches. You can build your own sandwich. There also are vegetarian choices including cucumber with cream cheese and veggie sandwiches.
All salads are made to order and veggies are fresh cut daily. Side dishes include broccoli, macaroni, carrot and Southwest pasta salads. Call ahead to order or to check availability of your favorite choice.
Kids have their own menu and can enjoy faves such as PBJ, cheese pizza and more. Deserts include their famous coconut cake and cookies, cupcakes and pies! They have a lovely view of the bay!
