Enjoy a breezy fall outing that starts with a light run or jog and ends with plenty of food, fun, and live music at this annual event that goes to benefit a very worthy local cause, the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation. The annual HICF 5K is a great outing that’s open to visitors and locals of all ages, and which shows just how fun the Outer Banks can be in the fall when everyone comes together to help out a favorite community organization.

Visitors are welcome to come dressed in their favorite shades of pink, and to enjoy a light run, jog, or walk through a 5K course that veers through the heart of Kinnakeet Shores in the town of Avon. Once the lightly competitive run is over, the party will keep going strong with plenty of food for attendees, music, and even a collection of door prizes which will be provided by local businesses. The event always draws a great local crowd, and because it corresponds with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is a fine opportunity to show support in a relaxed community environment. Fun for all ages, the HICF 5K and Fun Run is quickly becoming a favorite annual events for OBX fall fans of all ages.
