Fishin Frenzy

Gulf Stream Sportfishing out of Oregon Inlet

Outer Banks Charter Fishing
Welcome aboard the Fishin’ Frenzy! We invite you to come enjoy a day of Gulf Stream sportfishing out of Oregon Inlet on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Tuna, marlin, sailfish, wahoo, and dolphin are the targets, and the Fishin’ Frenzy crew has the experience and equipment to help you land your catch of a lifetime.

Captain Greg Mayer and his mate are seasoned professionals on hand to ensure the best fishing experience possible. Bluewater angling is our business, and we like to make it a fun and memorable adventure for our customers. Our tackle is second to none, featuring custom rods paired with Penn International reels to give you the best chance of landing your trophy catch.

Trolling is our preferred method of fishing, but when conditions permit, we may cast, drift, kite fish or use our greenstick with the appropriate tackle matched to the targeted species. If you have your own tackle, feel free to bring it along.

Sit back and relax in our air-conditioned cabin or enjoy the spectacular view from our spacious cockpit while we speed you to the fishing grounds at a comfortable 25 knots on your course to the trip of a lifetime.

The Fishin’ Frenzy is a 53-foot Custom Carolina Sportfish with a 16-foot beam. She was built in 1977 by Captain Billy Holton. The Carolina hull design powered by a 1100 hp Caterpillar diesel enables her to comfortably cruise at 25 knots. The Fishin’ Frenzy has been expertly maintained and refitted to give our customers the safest, most comfortable offshore fishing experience possible.

Our salon is designed for the comfort of our guests. An onboard generator provides the power for heat and air conditioning, a microwave and outlets located throughout the salon. We keep our salon at a comfortable temperature year round, and even our head (rest room) is air-conditioned. A sound system complete with cd player and Sirius satellite radio is also available.

In our spacious cockpit, three teak fighting chairs are ready to comfortably help you tackle any battle we may encounter. We take pride in caring for you catch, and our insulated ice storage and fish boxes are the ticket for bringing back the finest quality fish in the fleet.

On the bridge, we have all the equipment required to make your day safe and productive. Our electronics include two VHF radios, Globalstar satellite telephone, two GPS units, a Simrad autopilot, a Furuno RADAR and Furuno color depth sounder.

Captain Greg has been fishing professionally for more than 25 years and for fun since he could hold a fishing rod. He began his career at the Jersey Shore working on inshore and offshore charter and head boats. Between fishing seasons, Greg received his BS in Biology from Bates College in Lewiston Maine. Greg has fished from Maine to Florida, Mexico, the Bahamas, and even Baja California, catching everything from fluke to giant bluefin tuna. In 1991, he moved to the Outer Banks and joined the Oregon Inlet Fleet. Captain Greg has been at the helm of the Fishin’ Frenzy since 1999.
