First Colony Inn

The First Colony Inn features all the romance and charm of the classic Nags Head lifestyle, and is found within a historic 1930s structure that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to this stately pedigree, the site has been renovated in recent years to include all the amenities that beach-goers love - from a sparkling outdoor pool to a boardwalk to the oceanfront - and has a surprising number of accoutrements and extras designed to make guests smile.

Though the beach is located just steps away, and guests will find tons of attractions within a few minutes’ drive including Jennette’s Pier and Jockey’s Ridge State Park, there’s plenty of amenities close to home as well, such as a croquet court, wraparound verandas, a library with books and games, and lush landscaping throughout. Individual rooms are just as charming and inviting, with little extras like fluffy towels on a heated towel bar, English toiletries, and a television, telephone, and refrigerator – which are all standard in each room. (Upgraded rooms with wet bars, kitchenettes, Jacuzzis, sitting rooms, and / or private screened porches are also available.) With an incredibly cool locale, and decades of history that’s been elevated to meet modern tastes, the First Colony Inn is a decadent sample of the good life on the Outer Banks.
