Over 100 regional and North Carolina artists show in the Down Creek Gallery on Ocracoke Island. Located on the waterfront in Ocracoke Village, the venue has a wide variety of fine art and crafts including jewelry, metal and wood art, decorative and functional pottery, fine art glass, paintings, photography and prints. From cool candles to the work of more than 15 glass artists, the gallery is full of remarkable choices.
Check out the work of artist, Mark Woodward. Each of his sea life designs are either handmade from clay or wood. Molds are made from them and filled with pewter. He has crafted a wide variety of forms including whelks, seahorses, and pelicans. Woodward brings to his craft a passion for nature and is a self-taught artist who studied biology in college. His work portfolio includes being the chief sculptor for Banana Republic stores. He has crafted life-sized elephants and acacia trees!
