Art in every medium and style is offered at the local arts council gallery. This includes many choices even within each genre. Paintings include realism, abstraction, impressionism and more. The multi-room gallery features several photographers, multiple jewelry designers and fabric artists as well. Pottery also is on display. All the work in the gallery is created by Dare County Arts Council members.
The arts council has exhibitions that change monthly in the gallery and open every first Friday of the month. Usually two artists are featured. They also have special events such as big group shows, fun fundraising galas featuring auctions, food and music. DCAC appreciates all cultural arts and has lessons, workshops, and happenings revolving around film, literary arts and more.
The gallery is housed in the historic county courthouse in downtown Manteo, which was recently renovated due to damage from Hurricane Irene. They have big plans for the site and do a great deal in the community and schools to foster creativity. Stop by and join and help support the arts in Dare County! The gallery is open year round.
