Celebrate the magic of the Christmas season at the annual Currituck Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting, a beloved community tradition that brings families, friends, and visitors together for an evening of festive entertainment and holiday cheer. Held at Currituck Community Park and the N.C. Cooperative Extension Currituck County Center in Barco, this free event offers a wonderful way to welcome the holidays with seasonal activities, colorful decorations, and small-town charm.
The festivities begin with family-friendly activities, including the popular Reindeer Games, where children can enjoy holiday-themed fun before the main celebration. Visitors can warm up with cookies and hot cocoa, explore food vendors, and gather for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The highlight of the evening is the holiday parade, featuring brightly decorated floats, colorful costumes, festive music, and dazzling lights as local organizations, businesses, and community groups come together to celebrate the season.
Each year brings a different parade theme, adding a creative touch to this longstanding Currituck tradition. Families can find a comfortable spot along the parade route to enjoy the procession and share in the excitement. With its combination of holiday entertainment, community spirit, and festive traditions, the Currituck Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting offers a memorable way to celebrate Christmas in coastal North Carolina.
