Try your hand at catching the big blue crabs that are plentiful along the Outer Banks coastline with this unique event that is sure to be a hit with new and experienced anglers of all ages. Crabbing with a Ranger is a special program that is offered by the National Park Service, and which takes place on the shores of Bodie Island, making it a fun adventure and outing for anyone staying along the Outer Banks.
Crabbing with a Ranger takes place every Tuesday and Friday morning throughout the summer months and interested attendees are advised to call 252-966-1761 in advance in order to register for the outing. (Please call the Saturday before your desired trip to ensure availability and make your reservation for the coming week.) During the morning trek, folks will have a quick 6-minute walk from the meeting location to a sound side location where, hopefully, the crabs will be plentiful. The excursion is wide open to adults and kids alike, and is a fun way to enjoy an in-depth exploration of the Pamlico Sound waters, while enjoying incredible up-close views of the Bodie Island Lighthouse along the way.
