Yummy cupcakes made from scratch, of course, are the hallmark of this downtown Manteo shop. Called gourmet, the cupcakes come in over 225 flavors including Snickers and Reeces Peanut Butter Cup. A Southern favorite, red velvet is their current best seller, but don’t stop there. Try crème broule or lemon-lime. Any flavor you can add to a drink, you can add to a cupcake!
The ingredients are topnotch including real butter (no GMO’s or box mixes). They even cater to specialty eating and allergies with vegan cupcakes, sugar-, dairy-, and gluten-free choices. No preservatives are used in these old fashioned beauties – and yes, they are colorful, sculptural works of art, too!
A big wedding draw – they are a new business and did over 100 weddings last year - Carolina Cupcakery also offers single cupcakes for the visitor. And they don’t break the bank despite the quality ingredients.
Shop around downtown, eat lunch in a nearby café and enjoy dessert, eat-in or take-out at the Carolina Cupcakery. It makes for a sweet little pick-me-up. They are open Tuesday through Saturday.
