Hatteras Island vacationers will be hard-pressed to find a local motel that’s close to the pristine and undeveloped beaches than the Cape Hatteras Motel. Located on the very southern edge of the town of Buxton, this locally renowned motel is literally steps away from the oceanfront, and is just an easy drive away from favorite attractions including the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Cape Point, and miles of pristine and un-commercialized shoreline.
The motel is made up of several buildings, including some with accommodations on the western side of NC Highway 12, (which feature Pamlico Sound views), and some that are perched on the sandy dune lines and are steps away from the shore. The ensuing complex features a nice selection of amenities, including a seasonal outdoor pool hot tub, and picnic area with BBQs, as well as two fish cleaning stations and a deep freezer to store those catches reeled in off of neighboring Cape Point. The coastally appropriate rooms feature cable TV, microwaves, Wi-Fi, mini-fridges and coffee makers, and suites and townhouses are available with dining and living areas for larger parties or longer stays. With some of the best beach access on the island, coastal lovers will be in heaven at the simple but beautifully situated Cape Hatteras Motel.
