The stunning butterflies of the Elizabethan Gardens take center stage at this enchanting event that is celebrating its second year on the Outer Banks in 2020. Back by popular demand, the Butterfly Festival at the Elizabethan Gardens will be a crowd pleaser for both the young and the young-at-heart, thanks to a colorful array of activities and events that perfectly correspond with some of the gardens’ most notable and vibrant residents.
The Butterfly Festival is free to all visitors of the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo with cost of admission, and the full-day event features plenty of ways to garner a little hands-on education about the butterflies that call the lush gardens home. Attendees can expect plenty of games, activities and other alluring events of all varieties throughout the month-long celebration, and the April timeframe serves as an ideal time to celebrate the blooms that naturally attract the butterflies to this corner of Roanoke Island. The John White Butterfly Center in heart of the Elizabethan Gardens serves as the main stage for the action, although attendees will want to reserve plenty of time to explore the springtime atmosphere of the grounds. Fun for all ages, April’s Butterfly Festival is a springtime event that can’t be missed.
