Add an extra dose of fun and education for the youngest garden lovers in your party by attending this special summertime event that’s held at the exquisite Elizabethan Gardens. The “Butterflies” is a fun and interactive program that is designed for young visitors, and is free with admission for anyone who pays a visit to this enticing Roanoke Island landmark.

The Elizabethan Gardens is well known as one of the most scenic outdoor destinations on the Outer Banks off the beach, and during this one hour event, young participants can learn all about one of the gardens’ favorite local residents – butterflies. During the program, kids will find out all there is to know about the life cycle of butterflies by diving into some hands-on activities and even venturing on a scavenger hunt through the site. (There’s even a prize involved to add to the fun!) The class is free for all visitors, but is limited to just 20 participants, so visitors will want to arrive a little early to secure a spot. Held every Wednesday throughout the summer months, this cool program will make an already enthralling and scenic visit to the Elizabethan Gardens even more unforgettable for the Outer Banks’ youngest vacationers.
