Enjoy an opportunity to learn one of the fastest-growing watersports on the Outer Banks with this special family-friendly and free SUP competition in the heart of downtown Manteo. The BIC SUP One Design Series in Manteo shines a spotlight on stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP, and is a fun chance to check out a new watersport while enjoying some stunning views of the historic downtown waterfront.
The event takes place in the waterfront “backyard” of the Kitty Hawk Kites store, and consists of a lightly competitive race through a cool course that hugs the coastline. Beginners and even SUP riders with little to no experience are all welcome, and brief clinics on the basics of paddle boarding will be held before the race begins. Once the race starts, participants will enjoy a stunning paddle through the historic Manteo waterfront, where great views of the downtown area are waiting. The event is completely free, and is open to anyone who wants to learn, or just enjoy a paddle through one of the prettiest regions of the OBX.
