Bells Island Campground

Since 1963, Bells Island Campground has provided families a safe place to stay and play. Located off the beaten path, midway between North Carolina’s Outer Banks and Virginia Beach, Bells Island is the perfect place to stay whether you want to take in the area’s major attractions or just get away from it all and relax. A thirty-minute drive will take you to Kitty Hawk, a 20-minute boat ride will land you in Corolla and the Currituck Sound Ferry is only a few minutes away.

At Bells Island you’ll have access to shaded RV sites with full water and electric hookups and sites for tent camping as well - all with access to restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers.

Located on the beautiful Currituck sound, the campground’s main attraction is water activities. Along with a boat ramp, there’s a pier for fishing and crabbing, and the site is a perfect spot for boating, kayaking, jet skiing and canoeing. There’s also a safe area for swimming in the shallow waters of the sound.

Other available activities include tennis, volleyball and horseshoes. Bird watching is particularly popular, as the area is home to many species of migratory birds and waterfowl, and it’s not uncommon to spot a bald eagle or osprey flying or perched nearby.

The owners of Bells Island take pride in providing a “safe, clean and well-kept campground.” Reservations are encouraged, especially during the summer months. You can check in anytime, but call ahead if arriving during late night hours. Check out time is 3 p.m.
