Barrier Island Kayaks

Explore the amazing waterways, marshlands, and scenic open waters that waterfront Swansboro has to offer with a kayak rental, lesson, or expedition that’s commandeered by Barrier Island Kayaks. Located on the edge of the water, and bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway – one of the premier kayaking destinations along the East Coast – paddlers can embark on a world of adventures that can extend to Emerald Isle, Hammocks Beach State Park, and beyond.

Barrier Island Kayaks offers a wide range of tours, which includes eco-adventures, Bear Island explorations, and even Cape Lookout National Seashore treks, which allows paddlers to explore some of the most remote and beautiful shorelines in the Southern Outer Banks. (Custom trips are also available for adventurers with a destination or activity – like birdwatching – already in mind.) New kayakers, or experienced kayakers who want to hone their skills, can also sign up for a class via the on-site Coastal Academy of Sea Kayaking, while more casual explorers can rent a single or double kayak for an hour, a day, or even multiple days for optimal enjoyment throughout a vacation. With so many adventures and ways to have fun, visitors of all abilities can effortlessly discover a new way to explore the miles of waters through Barrier Island Kayaks.
