Where the Duck Boardwalk stops “and shopping begins,” you’ll find two Barr-ee Station boutiques, one at each end of the Waterfront Shops. Both offer access to a wide deck where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Currituck Sound in between shopping for the perfect outfit or unique home décor.
These two shops, along with another in Kitty Hawk, were all founded by Maggie Cox, who opened the original Barr-ee Station in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Barr-ee Station 1, on the north end of the Waterfront Shops, offers an appealing selection of name-brand men and women’s clothing, including Island Company, Yala Bamboo Dreams, Esley, Alternative Apparel and Freeway.
Along with dresses, tops and pants, women will find jackets and coats, shoes, hats and bags as well. And of course there’s also a wide variety of swimsuit styles available, from makers like Modbe, Zen Waters, Stand Up and Good Karma. In addition to apparel, Barr-ee offers a selection of beautiful rings, bracelets and necklaces featuring diamond and initial pendant designs by Charlene K.
Men can choose from classic and casual shirts and shorts, with a number of linen and cotton selections by Island Company and environmentally friendly footwear by Kustom. More like clothing than an accessory, Kustom shoes are made from breathable hemp and cotton. Other men’s accessories include hats and belts.
Barr-ee Station 1 is open year round with altered days and hours off-season. Be sure to check out their annual outdoor tent sale during Thanksgiving weekend.
