Both kids and parents alike will have a ball learning all about the birds that are found in their Outer Banks backyards and beyond at this special program that will illuminate these species with a myriad of hands-on activities. Held at the stunning Elizabethan Gardens, which is a true haven for area birds, this kid-friendly activity is a great way for young visitors to enjoy an outdoor adventure off the beach.

The event is held in the heart of Roanoke Island at the famed Elizabethan Gardens attraction, and the program is free with the entrance fee to the site. During the roughly one-hour session, kids will learn all about backyard birds and will participate in a number of fun activities which includes learning how to draw local birds, creating a “bird snack” to take home to their own backyard residents, and even a scavenger hunt through the gardens with a prize at the end. The program is limited to just 20 participants, so visitors may want to arrive a little early to ensure a spot. Held weekly throughout the summer months, this unique activity at the gardens is sure to create a lot of smiles all around for visitors of all ages.
