While beer and wine are found in many stores across the Outer Banks, you will need to visit a state-regulated ABC Store (Alcoholic Beverage Control) to purchase liquors. ABC stores are the only stores in North Carolina licensed to sell spirituous liquors.
ABC stores are large and have a massive selection of liquor to choose from. You will find a wide selection of vodka, rum, gin, whiskey, tequila, scotch, bourbon, triple sec, vermouth, bitters and anything else you may be looking for. A small amount of mixers also are available.
There are a few things to consider before you to head to the store for ingredients to make a refreshing Bahama Breeze or Strawberry Daquiri. First, the pricing of spirituous liquors is set throughout the state and are uniform at each store. Second, all sales transactions require a form of ID, such as a driver’s license. Third, remember that ABC stores are closed on Sundays and plan accordingly. Lastly, always drink responsibly.
